Lyric Theatre, Winter Garden, FL

The Lyric Theatre was opened as a movie house at the beginning of the 1900’s on the second floor of a retail building, which still stands. It was owned by a Mr. Kannaday, who moved to Winter Garden from Alabama. Several advertisements have been located showing that outdoor acts were sometimes booked by the management for the entertainment of the local populace. Later, a rooming house was operated in the same space. This area of the building became vacant and in 2016 has been converted into office space.

Nice to learn of this theatre that was once in Winter Garden FL besides the present day Garden Theatre!

The building which housed the Lyric Theatre has now been beautifully renovated in a period style. Upstairs, in the space that was once the theatre, are the offices of R. C. Stevens Construction, plus several other businesses.
