Previous Names: Fine Arts Theatre, 21st Street Theatre
Located across the street from the Public Library. The Fine Arts Theatre was opened on June 13, 1963 with Franciose Arnoul in “Tales of Paris” & Buddy Hackett in “The Shoes”. On December 21, 1969 it was renamed 21st Street Theatre and went over to screening adult movies, the first program was “Head Mistress” & “BRICK Doll House”. In 1970 it briefly went first run screening Jack Palance & Omar Sharif in “Che!” after the local chains would not touch the film for fear of retribution from the politically charged Cuban community.
On May 23, 1973 it was twinned and screened gay adult male movies in screen 1 and straight adult movies in screen 2. This non-descript porn outlet operated for years with one admission for both screens. Wolfies was (is?) across the street.
