The Lamp Theatre was opened in 1937. It closed in the mid-2000’s. It was sold and the new owners began renovating to reopen, sadly by 2010, this had come to a halt.
It recieved grants from the State & County and with the help of a team of dedicated volunteers it reopened in the fall of 2015. The stage has been enlarged and can now hold live performances as well as movies.

I just drove past the Lamp on 4/14, and not a single renovation is in sight. :( I wonder what happened with that?
Maybe they ran out of money.
The place was mostly gutted, and now sits abandoned. I took some exterior shots yesterday. If my link doesn’t work, let me know, and I’ll upload them to my website.

There is new activity for this theatre. The Westmoreland Cultural Trust is still trying to renovate and open it. State and County money has been arranged, but they are waiting to hear from the Irwin Borough to see if they can contribute a potion of the needed funds. A group has formed to support the reopening of the theatre.
