The Airway Theatre was opened by Long Theaters in August 1947. It had closed by 1957.

The Airway opened on December 30, 1950. The premier feature was “Rock Island Trail†with Forrest Tucker and Adele Mara. The zip for 5206 Airline Road is 77022.
Was the movie house near the airport???
Houston’s Bush Airport didn’t exist in 1950, and Hobby Airport is approximately 16 miles away, so the Airway name remains a mystery.
The September 5, 1947 issue of The Film Daily carried a brief blurb that stated the 650 seat theater had recently opened. It was part of the J. G. Long circuit, which operated several theaters in Texas, including the North Houston. Variety had previously carried a similar notice in its August 20, 1947 issue.
