During its tenure under the Walter Reade Organization management, the Beverly Hills Music Hall was the exclusive Southern California exhibitor of the 1968 Russian epic “War and Peace.” The six-hour film, directed by Sergei Bondarchuk, was given prestige treatment, shown in two parts on separate visits that required special roadshow tickets. A bonded service company was engaged by the Reade Organization to manage advance reservations and handle those so-called “hard ticket” sales. (Photo by John W. Harding)
