The 500-seat Liberty Theater in downtown Silver City in the the southwestern corner of New Mexico, first opened in 1923 and was re-named the Silco Theater in 1926. I had closed by 1964 and was converted into a furniture store followed by use as a mini-mall and then a boutique..

It reopened in January 2006 for events and meetings. It was restored and reopened as a movie theatre on February 26, 2016.

Do you know what year these photos were taken?

Unfortunately I do not know. You’d probably have to got to the Silco’s Facebook page located via the above link, and ask beneath the individual photos. Or maybe contacting the theater and ask them about the photos on their page.

More than one Silco, or false alarm?

Boxoffice, Nov. 30, 1964: “The Silco Theatre in Silver City, N.M., is being converted into a furniture store”

It was a furniture store at one point. This and the other 2 movie theaters in downtown Silver City have been in various states of use, shutdown and disrepair for decades. The Silco has been fully renovated and showing current features for several years now.
