The Plaza Theatres 1 & 2 opened October 14, 1970 with Lee Marvin in “Paint Your Wagon” showing on both screens. It was operated by Carmike Cinemas. Seating was listed at 566. The theatre closed on October 2, 2003.

The Plaza Theatres (2) were located in the shopping center on Hamilton Blvd. It was built by Klinger and operated by J.S.B. Amusement of Lincoln, Nebraska in the late 1960’s. It ran seven days a week normally 7p.m. to 12p.m. and on the weekends it operated from 2p.m. until 12p.m.

This opened on October 14th, 1970 as a twin cinema. Grand opening ad in the photo section and below:

According to an article from the Sioux City Journal, the Plaza switched from a first run to second around 1993.
