View of front half of the “Gaiety Theatre” and stage, showing scene from “The Slip”. The Gaiety Theatre on the northeast corner of Portage Avenue and Colony Street was built in 1912. It would later become the “Eve Theatre” and then the “Colony Theatre” before closing in the mid-1980s. Two aisles lead through many rows of theatre seating toward tall, curtained doorways and the screen at the front of the auditorium; the seats are empty and a scene is playing. The walls and ceiling are embellished with architectural details.
