Cinema Saver

Opened as a twin on May 27, 1994 with 100 seats in each auditorium. Screen 1 opened with “Singing in the Rain” & “The Wizard of Oz”. Screen 2 opened with “Grumpy Old Men”. The Cinema Saver shows second-run movies for $3 each. There are now 5-screens with capacities ranging from 70 to 120 seats. Two screens are on the second floor, two on the ground floor and one in the basement. Located in the old Burt’s building. It is independently owned and operated. The old neon “CINEMA” sign over the entrance came from the marquee of the Cinema Endicott, which was nearby and was demolished.

In 2012 prices are; $2 before 6pm, $2 child/senior/student with ID after 6pm, $4 adults after 6pm $1 surcharge for 3D films. Private birthday parties are available for $100 for up to 35 people.

Closed at the end of July, 2023.

Opened in 1993, per a recent newspaper article about the theatre getting a grant to convert to digital.

I worked here just after it opened up. It was 2 screens with auditoriums called the Emerald and Ruby rooms. Most of the early equipment and seats were salvaged from the collapsed Ritz Theatre. This was a fun place to work. After closing hours, we would explore the cavernous empty floors of the former department store. From top to bottom we explored. There wasn’t much in the way of lighting but flashlights along with windows did the job.

This opened on May 27th, 1994 as $1.50 Twin. Sony Theatres also placed its Binghamton Plaza Cinemas on a discount policy on the same day.
