Park Theatre

The AFY yearbook for 1936 lists the Park Theatre as having 1,400 seats. Front facade is in a Classical style, one looking like late-1910’s or early-1920’s for construction date. All the storefronts are retail. The auditorium was demolished in fall of 2009. The front of the building still stands.

From the google photos – it looks like the auditorium was recently demolished. The aerial photo shows the auditorium, right behind the commercial block, long and low – looks like there was no balcony. However, the street level photo shows the auditorium structure having been razed. The front section is still there looks in good shape but the storefronts are all vacant.

The auditorium has been demolished. From the alley you can stand where the screen once stood and on the facing wall see the windows of the projection booth and, below them, the outline of what looks to have been a balcony. The facade of the theater, except for missing the marquee, seems to be untouched. I’ll try and post pictures.
