The Hickory Theater was opened on September 1, 1923 with Maty Pickford in “Tess of Storm Country”. It was closed on May 5, 1958 with Audie Murphy in “The Quiet American” & Pamela Duncan in “Gun Battle at Monterey”.

Hickory Theater Opened on Saturday 1September 1923 the 1st movie starred Mary Pickford in (Tess of the Storm Country.

The Hickory Theater was located on northeast corner of 11th & Hickory. The theater opened Saturday September 15, 1923 with the movie William Farnum in “Without Compromise”. Last day open was Monday, May 5, 1958. The last movies played were Audie Murphy in “The Quiet American” and Pamela Duncan in “Gun Battle at Monterey.”
