Entrance to Former Capri Theater

The Capri was a basement movie theatre in a high-rise office building in downtown Silver Spring. It was designed by architects Bucher-Meyers and opened January 19, 1972 by Potomic Theatres with “Such Good Friends”. The Capri Theatre closed in May 1982.

According to one tenet of the building, aside from some of the seats being removed, the cinema remains pretty much intact. Here are photos from March 2008 of the area leading to this underground venue: 1, 2

I passed this theater every day on my way to school… I remember seeing Star Wars there and maybe one or two others. At one point all they showed was Kung Fu movies… I remember the marquee saying: how now… The “S” in show fell off and they never replaced it.
