The Washington Theatre was opened as a movie theatre in 1915. In 1937 it was remodeled and reopened as the Rex Theatre when it became a part of the Publix Great States Theatres chain. It was closed in 1951 and it 1952 it became a clothing store. It was demolished in 1959.
