Nice 1970’s-style twin cinema reminiscent of the General Cinema Corporation venues from the same period. In later years the Loehmann screened Bollywood films in both auditoriums. By 2010, it was operated by Phoenix Big Cinemas. By July 2021 it had closed and was demolished.

I saw one of the Star Trek movies here many years ago when it was hitting the second run circuit. I’m guessing it was 3, maybe 4. Don’t recall if the theater was even stereo equipped, but the screen was decently sized and the seats raked in such a way as to give a good view of the screen. In a way, I’m glad its still in use showing movies, albeit Bollywood ones. :) I wish they had kept the Laurel Twin intact.
I remember going to this place to watch Aladdin and it was pretty good. I remember the red-orange curtain that opens when the movie starts and closes when the movie is finished. The theater is quite small amd quite cheap. Cost about a $1.99 per person (as said on the sign) and only had one arcade game called “The Goonies II”. The theater was owned by General Cinemas, then Regal, and now owned by an Indian (Hindu) man who now show Bollywood stuff.
The original Loehmanns Plaza Twin Theatres were built by District Theatres byr advertised as Potomac Theaters Per the Washington Post of May 11, 1971 Theatres opened on Wednesday May 12, 1971 with “Lovers and other Strangers and "The Barefoot Executive” with “Free gifts to all”
The District vs Potomac names were political, District Theatres was an inter-city chain, Potomac was in the ‘burbs.
We have a pretty good size Indian population here in Augusta,Ga. Surprized someone here hasn’t reopened a few Closed theatres,some with everything Still in there.Maybe you have to live in a larger city to make any Money off Indian movies?

Oh, this one really hurts. Was here on opening day to see “The Barefoot Executive” and was hired while still in middle school by the theatres' first manager, Lois Wakefield a year later. She said “you’re here so often, you might as well work here!” Was there all the way through high school, and would still do occasional short-notice shifts for several years after that.
