Reopened as Holiday on February 25th, 1953. Grand opening ad posted.
Denver’s Museum of Contemporary Art announced today that it would buy the Holiday and change it into a showplace for concerts, film, lectures and artist conversations starting in December. That’s according to an article in today’s Denver Post.
Motion Picture Herald, Jan. 31, 1953: “Civic Theatres are remodeling the Egyptian, and will rename it the Holiday.”
The seats, screen, stage, and even 2 simplex projectors (less lamphouses) are still there (don’t ask). There was a theatre group that was going to open it, but it fell through. The owners don’t want to change the usage/zoning, and would love someone to come in and turn it back into a theatre. Any takers? Man, if I had millions of dollars…
I have driven by the Holiday, the marquee say new retail coming soon. The front entrance has been boarded up and painted black.

The two buildings look the same.
I agree. I don’t know which one is more up to date. The Google photo showed Potzcuaro’s Restaurant, or something close to that.

If this listing is up to date, the building is currently occupied by a Mexican restaurant.
