The Richmond Square Twin Cinemas was operated by Famous Players and opened on June 27, 1968 with Jack Lemmon in “The Odd Couple” & Walter Brennan in “The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band”. It was a stand-alone concrete building on the edge of the Richmond Square parking lot. In 1980, it was expanded to three screens.

The theater closed in 1990. The building was demolished in 1991 to make room for the Richmond Centre mall parkade. The Richmond Centre Cinema was built in the mall itself and contained six screens.

The six screen multiplex that opened in 1990, following this location, closed today. It is to be replaced with a new food court.
