Cineworld Cinema - Sovereign Park

Located in the Sovereign Harbour Retail Park, this was a project of Cineplex Odeon. It opened as the 6-screen Cannon on 31st August 1990. It was soon re-branded MGM in 1991. It then became the Virgin in 1995 and then UGC. It was re-branded Cineworld in November 2005. Seating capacities in the screens range from 317, down to 218.

The Cineworld Cinema - Sovereign Park closed on 12th July 2019 when the circuit opened its 8-screen multiplex in the town centre Beacon Shopping Centre (which has its own page on Cinema Treasures). The owners of Sovereign Park, Prudential Insurance, have applied for planning permission to convert the unit into retail use, with additional mezzanine space being installed.

Probably closing soon due to the opening of a new 9 screen cineworld in the centre of Eastbourne. This could also be a threat for the Curzon located near to the new site.
