Designed by Birmingham based architect Glen Howells, the Courtyard Arts Centre opened on 18th September 1998 and has two auditoriums. The main house is in a Jacobean style and has seating for 400. This is mainly used for live performances, but is equipped for cinema use. The studio house has a seating capacity of 140 and is normally used for film and smaller live events. It is operated by the local council.
