74 West Drive-In

Located off Highway 74 between the towns of Wadesboro and nearby Polkton and Peachland. It was opened prior to 1949 as the Anson County Drive-In, and was the first drive-in theatre in town. It was operated by J.F. Melody. By 1955 it had been renamed West 74 Drive-In and was operated by Charles Tucker.

The drive-in was demolished in the early-1980’s. A concrete compound post stands where the Anson Drive-In once stood.

What was the name of the other drive-in theatre located in Wadesboro? Was this drive-in theatre located on the other side of Highway 74 or on Highway 52? Just asking since I’m from Anson County.
