The Wing Wah Theatre was situated in Chai Wan on Hong Kong Island. Wing Wah is the Cantonese pronunciation of its Chinese name, meaning “prosperity”.
Its 1400-seat auditorium with balcony was on the first floor of the theatre building, while the lobby was on the ground floor.
The theatre opened to business on 15th July, 1982 with a Cantonese film. It showed Cantonese films until its closure in June 1994.
In 2017 it was remodeled and reopened as the Cinema City Chai Wan (which has its own page on Cinema Treasures)
