The Jerry Lewis Cinema was opened on August 5, 1972 with Jack Lemmon in “The War Between Men and Women”. It became the Coral Way 97 and was soon relegated to sub-run limbo after that chain’s ill-fated ‘family theatre’ concept lost its purpose.

After several years of second run programming experiments it was reinvented as the first-run Astor Theatre in 1982.

It closed on November 6, 1986.

I remember when this theatre was the Coral Way 97th! This was a great hangout. Lots of girls, this theatre reminds me a lot of the old Village Theatre in Hialeah.
