Something wacky is going on with this address, as there was no drive-in at that location in the 1961 aerial photos. Does anyone have an idea what side street was closest to this drive-in, on NW 27th Avenue?

There definitely was no drive-in located on the 6000 block of NW 27th Avenue, according to the 1961 aerial photos.

If you read the ad, this was the east entrance to the 22nd Av. Drive-In, listed elsewhere. That east entrance was also known as Lib-City Drive-in.

Nice find, Rivest. This mean that the Palm, 22nd Avenue and Liberty City were all three the same drive-in with different entrances. They DID show the same movies at the same time, all the time.

That is the only drive-in that goes under three names at the same time!.

This theater was closer to 70th Street, the entrance was circa 68th Street. The marquee was located there, but you had to drive past the marquee to get in. I have some memories of the marquee on 27th avenue. That area looks very different now. To the north of the marquee, Sears had a warehouse where you could pick up items purchased at the Sears located in the Northside Shopping Center. I remember picking up a bike my Dad bought for me in the latter 60s. I could swear that theater was already closed when I picked up the bike, but I may be wrong. The area was already going through a metamorphosis when I got that bike.

What I don’t remember is the name Liberty City Drive In. The Palm marquee was there for a few years after the theater closed. The marquee was right on NW 27th Avenue.

To clear up any confusion: THIS is now Gwen Cherry Park @ 7090 NW 22nd Ave, Miami, FL 33147. The reason for the mixup at 27th is because of the entrance. It took up 5 blocks(!) at which the theater was located much further east past the manmade lagoon (still there).

Please update.

FYI Fairyland in KCMO, El Rancho in SSFCA and Mission Tiki(still open so far) have entrances that are blocks from the actual D/I…🤩
