The Town Hall opened in 1881, designed in a Queen Anne style by architect Henry Harris of Cardiff. Films began to screened here in the early 1910’s. In 1913-1914, it was renovated and re-opened on 25th November 1914.
Also used for stage performances, it is said that Richaed Burton made his first stage appearance here in 1939.
The balcony of the Town Hall was converted into a cinema in 1994. With 170 seats, the opening film was Robin Williams in "Mrs Doubtfire". Today, live performances dominate the programming.
The Town Hall is a Grade II Listed building.
