The Peerless Theatre opened on June 24, 1914. After the nearby Princess Theatre burned down, the Peerless Theatre was renamed the Princess Theatre. Around 1929 the Princess Theatre was sold and the new owner changed the name back to the Peerless Theatre. The Peerless Theatre closed around 1942 and was replaced by the current Strand Theatre by 1943.
