Opened in 1929, the Rex Theater was housed in a small tan brick building with ornate bas relief artwork on the front and across the top of the building. By 1941 it was operated by Robb & Rowley-United Inc. In later years it became an African-American theatre, closing in 1950. As of May 2009 it remained standing and was being used as a thrift store.
