The original Cinema I & II, opened December 24, 1972 with “Up the Sandbox” & “Snowball Express”. It was located inside the Security Mall. It was a combination of decent-sized "traditional" auditoriums and General Cinema’s infamous 1970’s "bowling alleys" (long, narrow rooms).

In 1979 two more screens were added, at least one of the larger houses had a nice Dolby Stereo sound system. A sound-only snipe before features announced that intermission music was sponsored by York Steak House, a restaurant in the mall. This theater closed in 1987, to be replaced by the current Security Square 8 complex outside the mall (which has its own page on Cinema Treasures).

A large food court is in the space once occupied by the Security Mall Cinema.
