Airport Drive-In

The Richmond Drive-In was located in Sandston, VA. which is on the outskirts of Richmond, VA. The theatre was a 400 car drive-in. It opened on April 14, 1950 with Jeanne Crain in “You Were Meant for Me”. Later renamed Airport Drive-In, it was closed August 25, 1985, and was demolished in late-1985.

This page has some nice photos of the marquee and screen tower. It was called the Richmond Drive-In in the early-to-mid-‘50s; look carefully at the screen tower and you can make out the old name. (have to credit John Peppers for those pics)
