Stuart Cinema

Located in the Rue des Bouchers in the so called Ilot Sacre near the commercial gallery Les Galeries Saint Hubert. This cinema had a short career. It opened in 1937 and was under the same direction as L'Arenberg Cinema located in the street of the same name, and the ABC Chaussee d'Ixelles, they were often playing films the same week. A historical note because in January 1946 “Casablanca” directed by Michael Curtis was showed in those 3 cinemas first run.

During World War II, American made films were boycotted in Brussels. The Stuart Cinema was closed and demolished in 1952, for the building of the Flemish Bank, Krediet Bank now KBC.
