Situated in the heart of the quiet suburb of Lansdowne, Cape Town, this family oriented cinema served the community for many years. It was a venue kids loved to go to attend for the matinee presentations.
It possessed a single screen and seated 600. It was a hive of activity specially during the 1960’s. It had an arrangement with another cinema situated in close proximity whereby cinema reels were ferried between the two, enabling the same movies to be played on the same day.
The movies were all supplied by the Ster company (which later joined forces with Kinekor to form Ster-Kinekor, the largest film distribution company in South Africa).

About the “arrangement with another cinema situated in close proximity whereby reels were ferried between the two”. Could the other cinema have been the Kritz cinema which was situated further down Lansdowne Road near Lansdowne Station?
