TORONTO STAR AD FOR

The Bay Ridges Drive-In opened on December 21, 1962 with James Stewart in “Two Rode Together” & Sydney James in “Carry on Cruising”. It was located on Durham Highway 2, just to the east of the Tee Pee Drive-In. It was still open in 1979. The Bay Ridges Drive-In was operated by Odeon Theatres of Canada. Car capacity was approximately 900.

Pretty certain this is one of the two drive-ins east of Toronto (the other being the Teepee) that my parents took me to (and subsequently my brother and me, who was born when I was 6) when I was very young in the ‘60s. It was laways a challenge at a young age to stay awake through the B picture which was up first to be able to see the main feature.
It was either here or the Teepee where I saw Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

Opened on 21/12/1962 with “Two rode together” and “Carry on cruising”. Site now Pickering Town Center.

Ok, the above says it was closed around 1973. One of the photos in the photo section has an ad for the Buck Rogers movie from the Toronto Star on April 19, 1979. So this theater lasted way longer than 1973.
