The Taikoo Theatre was in the Taikoo Dockyard in Quarry Bay on the Hong Kong Island.

It was a private theatre showing selected films at reduced prices for the workers and families of the Taikoo Dockyard, but also opened to the public. It was in business as of 1950’s, while its exact opening and closing date are unknown.

The theatre was on the first floor of the Welfare Centre, with a restaurant on the ground floor. According to recollection of bloggers, its seats were long benches and sometimes flea infested, and its screen was the wall behind a small stage painted white. As the theatre was converted from an assembly hall, the sightline of the back stalls was poor, and the admission fee of the back stalls was cheaper than those of the front stalls.

The Taikoo Dockyard was gradually closed in the 1970’s, and Taikoo Shing, a private housing estate was built on the site of the dockyard.
