Photograph taken several weeks before the official opening of the Empire. Apart from the V Empire board above the tall arched central balcony window, very little gives the appearance that this is a theatre, however this eventually changed with the addition of the front and side canopies. Please note the difference between this and Ken Roe’s photo taken in 1914 when Neptune’s Daughter made her appearance!!
