Located at E. Livingstone Avenue and Lonsdale Road. The Jerry Lewis Cinema was a family oriented theater. This was the original $1 movie house. There used to be a wall mural inside with all the old movie stars….Laurel and Hardy, Charlie Chaplin, Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, etc. Too bad they had to get rid of the mural!

The building is now a dry cleaning business.

Is any other business currently in the space where the cinema was?

If you happen to know the exact street address on East Livingston Ave, that will be quite helpful here.

The York Plaza had the same owners as the Graceland Twin Cinema, and they always advertised together.

York Plaza Cinema had magnetic stereo equipment, and ran stereo midnight screenings of JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR for many months in the late 70’s. A very nice little theatre with operators who really cared about presentation.

I’ll have to do some more research on this, but it looks like the address of the theatre is 5434 East Livingston.

YORK PLAZA was a cool little cinema and had very memorable mural which led from the lobby into the theater. The mural was a collage of current and classic film stars and characters filling the wall from top to bottom including King King, Charlie Chaplin, etc etc all in black & white on a red wall if memory serves me.
