The former Plaza/Paris Theatre was demolished in 1968, to build a new shopping arcade. This new replacement Paris Cinema on part of the same site above the shopping arcade, was designed for Hoyts by architect Peter Muller. The single screen cinema was opened in April 1969 with Julie Andrews in "Star!".
It was later merged with the screen in the former balcony area of the adjacent Regent Theatre and was still operating in 2001 as Regent 2. It has since been closed and gutted and converted into retail use.
