Regal closed its Greenville Grande on March 16, 2020 for the COVID-19 pandemic. It reopened in September of 2020 but closing soon thereafter on October 8, 2020 when the circuit temporarily shut down operations again worldwide.

Regal reopened the Greenville Grande on May 21, 2021. However, it closed permanently following showtimes on September 14, 2022 with the company in its latest round of bankruptcy protection. It was one of 20 locations approved by a bankruptcy judge allowing the venue to break leases as it was unable to pay all of its September leasing due to liquidity problems.

Greenville Grande Stadium 14 opened under Charlotte based Consolidated Theatres on April 20, 2007. It was Greenville’s newest megaplex with stadium seating in all auditoriums along with THX-Dolby Sound Systems, advance ticketing, plush seating with cupholders and two large concession stands.

When the Greenville Grande opened I was glad to have an alternative to the Carmike 12, which was showing its age. The first movie I saw in this beautiful cinema was “Grindhouse”. I had previously seen “Grindhouse” at the Carmike (which was a more fitting venue for that film) and the difference between the two multiplexes was like night and day. The Greenville Grande is the better of the two; why Carmike is still in Greenville I haven’t figured out.
