Was located at 5335 Oleander drive. It was owned and operated by Stewart and Everett Theaters of Charlotte, NC. Stewart and Everett closed this single screen drive-in in 1980 when they decided to build a “modern” 6 screen theater in its location. In 1983 the “CINEMA 6” was built on this property. (information on this property as the “CINEMA 6” can be found under its own listing)
In fact,Stewart and Everett OWNED and OPERATED all of the movie houses and drive-ins in the greater Wilmington area,including all of the Downtown movie houses too like the Manor Theatre, the Bailey,and
the Colony.
The Manor Theatre,owned and operated by Eastern Federal Corporation.
Must have open in very late Fifties or sixties,Not listed in my 1956 Motion Picture Almanac which DOES list 7 outdoor screens.
And it seems to me alot of Wilby-Kincey Theatres became ABC Theatres.
