Located in the centre of Venice near the Cannaregio Ghetto district, on Strada Nova close to the corner of Campo S. Sofia. (the Strada Nuova is the only actual street in the City of Venice - all others are canals). The Cinema Teatro Progresso was a very early cinema, possibly dating from the 1910’s, or early-1920’s.
In April 2010, it was in use as an optician’s shop. By June 2014 it was a household goods shop and by 2022 it is a pharmacy. The original name in the stone facade over the entrance has been retained.

By the time of my visit, in June 2014, the building was being used as a household goods shop.
