The Auto Theatre was located in Rock Hill, South Carolina on the border with North Carolina. The Auto Theatre as it was called was a 304 car capacity drive-in theatre owned by Auto Theatre Company and later by Stewart and Everett. It was opened on May 11, 1950 with Maria Montez in “Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves”. December 4, 1970 had rather strange Double feature,"Easy Rider" and "The Executioner". It was closed in 1975.

Located where the Cherry Park Centre Shopping Center is located now. At the corner of Cherry Rd and Ebinport Rd.

Either the Auto or the Fort Rock was located east of town on US 21; the address was roughly 2875 Cherry Road. The outline is still there and it looks like it’s some sort of prefabricated building store. The projection booth might still be sitting out in the field.

I wish those old newspaper ads would have put an real street address on them.I guess they never thought forty years in the future and people would even care.

The Auto Drive-In opened on May 11th, 1950. Grand opening ad posted.

A closer address is 1807 Cherry Rd, Rock Hill, SC.

A 1965 aerial shows it in operation. By 1983 it had been demolished. Cherry Park Centre is currently on the property with no trace of the drive-in remaining.
