The Paramount Theatre was opened in 1936. The Montpelier Theatre had one time been a classy theatre showing decent films to the town such as a Disney double feature,"Living Desert" and "Vanishing Prairie".

By the 1970’s the good films were gone from the Montpelier Theatre and ‘epics’ like "Teenage Fantasies" and "French Throat",both X-Rated were playing. After closing it became a church.
