Garland Theater

The Garland Theater was located in SW Little Rock on W. 29th Street at Asher Avenue. This neighborhood theater was opened June 8, 1948 and closed in 1955.

It was torn down to make a parking lot for a new Safeway grocery store on Asher Avenue just west of the "Y intersection" of Roosevelt Road and Wright Avenue.

The trade press places the opening of Little Rock’s Garland Theatre on June 8, 1948 as a 650-seat theatre at 4116 Asher Avenue. It was opened by Floyd B. Peek with Motiograph projectors and a Manley popcorn popper. It closed in April of 1955.
