Summergarden Twin Cinema

Originally opened in 1948 as a single screen open-air cinema serving the Queen’s Beach area. On 19th October 1951 it became an indoor cinema. Ben Deluca, I think either owns it or manages the theatre. Since 1996 it has two screens which seat 275 & 86. It was ‘dressed-up’ as a location for the 2008 movie “Australia” where it is seen as the Pearl Picture Gardens in Darwin.

Originally built in 1948 as a residence to get around war building restrictions. Screen and roof lost in a 1958 cyclone.
