Shore Theater at 2507 E. 75th Street, May 1943

The Shore, located in the South Shore neighborhood of Chicago, was opened December 29, 1927 and sat nearly 1,500. Like the other larger South Shore movie houses, the Jeffery Theatre and the Hamilton Theatre, the Shore Theatre was operated by Warner Brothers from the 1930’s until the 1950’s.

The Shore Theatre remained a popular movie venue for decades, but has since been closed and torn down and the site is today a vacant lot.

The shore was oddly built at an angle to the street to fit the largest possible theater to the lot. It is at least partially demolished. Part of the structure to the rear of the building on the site follows the footprint of the auditorium and may or may not be part of it.
