The Star Theatre was opened in 1938. It was remodeled in 1948. The December 3, 1968 edition of the Pocatello Idaho State Journal said that the Star Theatre had been destroyed by fire on December 1. Leon and Richard Morris, owners of the Starlite Drive-In and Sunset Drive-In in Chubbuck, were in the process of selling the theatre to Hal Holden but unfortunately the theatre building was a total loss with the walls caving in.

It was closed for business at the time but a photograph, taken before the marquee fell, showed that the current movie was “Planet of the Apes".
