Old Gate Theater

The newly built theater opened in 1940, just outside the main gate of Fort Huachuca. The theater had a balcony upstairs for white officers who served at Fort Huachuca during World War II, when the fort was segregated. It also had a bedroom, bathroom and a projection room upstairs. In 1956, Tony Shaieb converted the building into The Smoke Shop which sold tobacco and had an amusement center with pool rooms. Today, the building is still there nicely refurbished.
