Regal Cinema

The Regal Cinema was built for and operated by Associated British Cinemas(ABC) chain. It was opened on 3rd October 1932 with “The Silent Voice” starring George Arlis & Bette Davis. Seating was provided in stalls and circle levels. There was a huge dome in the centre of the auditorium ceiling, and the projection box was at the rear of this dome. The cinema boasted a 120-seat cafe located on the first floor.

The Regal Cinema was closed on 16th March 1968 by a Compulsory Purchase Order, and was demolished to build a new road.
