Oak Theatre

Located at the intersection of Kingsway and Marlborough Avenue in the Burnaby section to the east of the city. The Oak Theatre opened August 4, 1937 with seating listed at 755. The theatre closed in 1963 and has since been demolished.

This theatre once stood at Kingsway and Marlborough. This photo was taken shortly after it opened, which happened on August 4, 1937.

Thanks for sharing. My Dad talks about seeing Bill Haley in “ Rock Around The Clock ” at the Oak around 1956.
