News-Luxe Newsreel Theatre – 234 Pitt Street, Sydney, NSW - 1946
The only newsreel theatre operated by Hoyts, the News-Luxe Newsreel Theatre was opened prior to 1946, and was sandwiched between the Liberty Theatre and the Variety Theatre.
The tiny Variety Theatre specialized in foreign and art films but was destroyed in a fire on Christmas Eve 1954. A clown employed by the News-Luxe Newsreel Theatre was credited with saving four people trapped above the Variety Theatre.
