Multisala Nuovo Mignon

The Multisala Nuovo-Mignon is a superb cinema containing two screens in the city of Lecco on the edge of Lake Como. The cinema is certainly not a duplex in the common form resulting from the division of a large screening rooms into two smaller ones. Instead, there is one and original very large screening room (Nuovo) that extends over three storeys and a smaller but fancy screening room (Mignon, i.e. cute in French)in the basement. The large screening room consists of stalls and two(!) balconies, an architectural type of cinema only very rarely found in Italy. Thus, the experience is quite impressive even though the balconies are only open in case of huge masses of cinemagoers.

The cinema screens mainstream films be they of Italian, American or other origin. According to press reports there were plans to close the cinema and transform its huge space into apartments but the plans have luckily - for the time being - not materialized.
