FYI “The Poseidon Adventure” was actually nominated for 8 Academy Awards. The hit song from “Superfly” Curtis Mayfield’s “Freddie’s Dead”, was disqualified at the last minute after passing the preliminary selection by an Academy committee. Turned out the lyrics were not written for the movie and the song nominations were held up to a later date. “The Morning After” would go on to win Best Song.
