Strand Theatre

The Strand Theatre stood next to the much older and still-standing hardware store building, just opposite where the main street turns south. A picture from August 1974 suggests the theatre was already closed by then. I started doing research on theaters and going to the Adirondacks around 1978. By that time, the Strand Theatre had already been demolished, but enough remained of the foundations, parking lot and front walks to intuit that a theatre had been there. Since then these last vestiges have been removed.

The Art Deco style design of the building suggests a late-1930’s construction, though I don’t have any first-hand information.
